Israel 2012 Trip - Beit She'an

by Connection News | | News

On Tuesday, May 23, we visited the ancient ruins of Beit She’an and took a detour in Bedouin territory to view a hidden monastery.  Beit She’an was a Roman pagan city that was destroyed by an earthquake. The devastating effects of the earthquake can still be seen, today, as pillars lay fallen on the ground. This particular site reveals a lot about Roman life, from the baths to the marketplace, including a large Roman road that is largely intact. Beit She’an is mentioned in 1 Samuel 31:10 as the place where the Philistines fastened the dead body of Saul to their wall.

Punching Holes in The Darkness

As a kid, I hated the dark. Shadows grow in the dark, turn into creatures in the closet and under the bed. At bedtime, I made sure my mom turned on the night-light. One reason I love Christmas so much is that, when I was little, the Christmas tree...
