SERIES: Church? Who Needs It
MESSAGE: When Christians Are Generous
SPEAKER: Skip Heitzig
SCRIPTURE: Acts 2:44-45

MESSAGE SUMMARY
To find out what God intended His people to be like, we have to go back to the Spirit-led church in the book of Acts. As we take a fresh look at their style, structure, and service, we get the full picture. This group wasn't a bunch of independent isolationists who met once a week. They were generous toward one another and sought to meet the social and economic needs of people in their spiritual family. Because they were so open-hearted, they were also open-handed.

Questions for Home Groups:

  1. Go home a take a tour of your checkbook: see it as a record of your earthly priorities Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:21

  2. Evaluate the use of your time and talents--are you giving God "equal time" compared to your own personal pursuits and recreation?

  3. Look over how the Lord has provided for you. Has He been taking care of your needs? Now evaluate your own generosity towards the Lord's work. Do you see any parallels?
